Welcome to Schwalbach am Taunus!
25,000 people live and work here…

Schwalbach am Taunus lies on the southeastern slope of the Taunus Mountains only 12 km away from Frankfurt am Main, the center of the Rhine-Main Region. The city’s optimum traffic connections and its quiet location in the lower part of the Taunus Mountain region (Vortaunus) are two of its most important advantages.

Schwalbach am Taunus also has an outstanding infrastructure. Primary school pupils can be looked after in special centers for schoolchildren (Schulkinderhäuser) and Schwalbach am Taunus also has two attractive secondary schools, a German advanced-level high school (Gymnasium) and an integrated comprehensive school (Integrierte Gesamtschule). The city also takes care of its senior citizens, for example, with a housing complex for senior citizens on the Market Square and a modern geriatric nursing facility.

The Limes Residential City (Wohnstadt Limes) was erected during the 1960s based on a prize-winning urban construction model. A new city center emerged around the Market Square with a town hall, civic center, city library, metropolitan railroad station (S-Bahnhof) and several charming retail stores. Today, about 15,000 people from 100 countries live in Schwalbach am Taunus.

Schwalbach am Taunus is located out in the countryside. The Limes Residential City is surrounded by the city forest, Europe Park (Europapark) and many garden plots. The Eichendorff Park (Eichendorff-Anlage) in “Old Schwalbach” (Alt-Schwalbach) attracts passers-by. The Regional Park Route (Regionalparkroute) that leads from the Nidda River to the Opel Zoo crosses Schwalbach am Taunus city territory  that also includes one third of the grounds of the Arboretum, a very special tree park.

However, Schwalbach am Taunus offers much more than just comfortable living in a very pleasant environment. It is also a very popular business location. Many internationally operating companies have set up administrative offices in Schwalbach am Taunus, and about 10,000 people work here.

Rhine-Main region jazz fans are very familiar with Schwalbach am Taunus as the location where the legendary Zulu’s Ball has taken place for decades. This event is organized by the Jazzclub und Kulturkreis GmbH. Our citizens actively take part in organizing a variety of cultural events and in further developing our city partnerships with Avrillé (France), Yarm (England) and Olkusz (Poland). Schwalbach am Taunus has more than 80 active clubs and working groups in which you can enjoy your favorite hobbies or get involved in worthwhile civic activities.

Schwalbach was first mentioned in a document in 781. Today, the center of the old town with the historic town hall, the parish church and the Dalles and Brater Squares witness to its long history as a small village on the old trade route from Frankfurt to Cologne. The many half-timbered houses (Fachwerkhäuser), some with guest rooms and restaurants (Gasthäuser), give the center of the village a special atmosphere and flair.
